Polyepsilon-Lysine. E-polylysine distributed by DKSH acts as a preservative and surfactant. It is a polymer of L-lysine, an essential amino acid. It is produced by biotechnological processes including fermentation of bacteria.
The molecules of this ingredient are cationic, surface active agents in water due to their positively charged amino groups. It is highly heat stable and is usable over a wide pH range (5 to 8). It can be used alone or in combination with other preservative. E-polylysine is used in skin care emulsions, lotions and organic products.
