Sunfloweroyl Methylglucamide. GlucoTain® GEM by Clariant is a sulfate-free, non-ionic surfactant in pure concentrated form. It is a robust builder of different cleansing compositions. It is produced by the reaction of N-methyl glucamine with sunflower oil and consists of long chain fatty acid, without palm. It provides highly conditioning, moisturizing, nourishing, restorative, repairing and protecting effects. It imparts delightful sensory features along with easy rinse off and consistently creamy, easy to spread, rich & stable foam.
It improves combability in hair products and offers good tolerability & soft after-feel to the skin. It is extremely mild to both skin proteins & lipids and suitable for sensitive skin & hair. Recommended for shower & bath products, liquid & bar soaps, shampoos & conditioners, syndet and baby shampoos. GlucoTain® GEM is particularly suitable for waterless solid formulations and also supports water-, packaging- and energy-saving products. It is miscible with all types of surfactants (anionic, non-ionic, cationic and amphoteric). It is stable in a broad pH range and achieves good viscosities in neutral and alkaline ranges for soap containing or neutral formulations. It shows excellent skin compatibility, renewable sourcing, high biodegradability (100%) and very good carbondioxide footprint. It has a shelf life of 2 years.
